A new genre of DAY BOATS!

It all started around the turn of the millenium with the creation by the late Noel Louvet of the MAGNUM 21 & 21S trimarans. These quick, open-cockpit, family, day boats with planing hulls swept aside the traditional concept of the short, fat, heavy, slow, day boat with ballast.

After all, why carry weight around with you when the buoyancy of a float can keep you upright?

Now there is a wide range of trimaran day boats. VirusBoats have introduced a smaller Magnum 18 and in 2004 AstusBoats picked up the idea of the trimaran day boat and have run with it, creating a wide range from 14ft through 18ft open cockpit trimarans and 20ft to 22ft trimarans with cabins thereby catering for all tastes and budgets within this genre.

Classic MAGNUM 21

SPEED OF TRIMARANS INCREASES RANGE
The slim, sleek hulls of Magnum 21 trimarans enable you to reach speeds that are inconceivable in monohulls thus enabling you to visit places that otherwise you could not reach.

It will do 10 knots with a small engine and over 20 knots under sail!

"I have recently been able to take my boat sailing for the first time and have been absolutely delighted with it. It handles beautifully. Its first outing was from Gosport (Portsmouth) in a force 4 with wind-over tide during springs in the Solent. The boat was incredibly sea-worthy and the sailing so fast and relaxed that I decided to make a Solent-crossing, even though it was the boat's first outing. It took 25 minutes to cover the 5.4 Nm from Gosport to Bembridge, averaging 12.75 knots or nearly 15 mph. The steering is as light as a feather. Considering the conditions and the speed, the whole ride was remarkably dry."

EASY TO TRAIL
At just 350kg not only is this a fast boat but it is easy to manhandle and trail too. Simple to pack up and tow away to a new location, the Magnum 21 is less than 1.65m wide on the road (2.25m since introduction of new quick assembly system in 2006) because everything fits neatly inside or on top of the primary hull.

SPACIOUS
Well protected from the elements, the long, self bailing cockpit, equipped with a large locker forward and a smaller one aft permits the comfortable accommodation of about 6 crew and their baggage. Non-slip surfaces everywhere you might stand, including on top of the floats, add to the justifyable feeling of security you get in this beautiful boat.

FLOATS INSTEAD OF BALLAST
The unsinkable floats provide exemplary stability so Magnum 21 trimarans have been fitted with retractable centre-boards instead of keels. This keeps the weight down and the speed up, eases trailing and facilitates beaching of the boats. Great for impromptu beach parties with friends and family members. Not to mention taking the ground inadvertently!

Centreboard just pops up if you hit anything
